Laser Vein Therapy
Everyone wants to be able to wear the cute skirt of the season, (or even just be able to wear shorts) but many of us suffer from spider veins that make us self conscious.
Spider veins are blue, red, or purple and spread out under the skin like a "spider" web. Laser Vein Therapy can help you to get your confidence back by eliminating embarrassing veins.
How it works...
Using our Cutera Cool Glide Laser, the area to be treated will be cleansed and prepared for treatment. A cooling gel will be applied. Next, the operator will begin the pulse-like treatment to ablate the vein. This process causes the blood in the vessel to heat, coagulate and seal. The vein then collapses and over time is reabsorbed by the body. Re-absorption usually takes two to six weeks.
Does it hurt?
During the treatment, many patients report that they can feel a mild burning sensation similar to a sunburn.
What do I need to do prior to treatment?
First and foremost, you must come in for a free consultation to make sure that you qualify for Laser Vein Therapy. Some patients have veins that are too large or have progressed to varicose stage. These types of veins must be treated by a vascular surgeon or qualifying physician.
On the day of treatment, make sure that skin is clean and free of all types of lotions or creams.
Avoid sun exposure for at least one week prior to treatment.
What do I need to do after the treatment?
- You may resume your normal daily activities.
- Some patients will have a raised red bump over the treatment areas. This will disappear several hours after treatment.
- Some patients may be required to wear compression socks/hose.
